Drove into Bowral on the way home and came across this cafe. Service was amazing and very friendly. We ordered the eggs Benedict (which I would definitely recommend) and asked for a share plate…they made two half portions of the eggs Benedict! The staff go above and beyond at Janeks, could not fault our experience. Thank you!

Great cafe in Bowral. Nice range of brunch and lunch meals, plus drinks. Food and coffee was well made and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and service was quick.

Janeks Cafe has been around for a long time. I do not know if the owners have changed over time. Located in a prime spot in Corbett Plaza which is particularly pleasant in good weather, today it was freezing in the Southern Highlands so our experience was inside. There are a few reasons why I have rated this cafe highly. First, unlike most cafes in Bowral they are open after 4pm. It was a cold day I was desperate for a sit down and a coffee. Well down for servicing the public like this. Second, my usual test of a cafe’s coffee prowess is the macchiato. My first macchiato was close to perfect in taste and texture - a good 8 or 9 out of ten. I ordered a second. This one was different but not bad - probably a point down. This illustrates an important point about coffee. It is a natural product and can vary. Furthermore the human factor of the barista matters. While the choice of food after 4pm was limited, the red velvet cake ordered by my wife was good. So after quite some time since my visit it is doing well in my view. The staff and owner (I think) were very pleasant to deal with and the younger female barista did well. The above is why I was happy with my visit.

Super friendly service, and the best cheese muffin I have had in years. Not too cheesy flavour, fresh and soft inside. They stocked quite a good selection of slices, muffins, etc.

I come to Janeks each day to work in an atmosphere of kindness generosity and peace I would like to report a Man who has written a false review came in incident I witnessed and had to intervene to protect two young women who were alone working together because no man can treat any generous staff in this way. I was about to call the police because he and his family were upsetting several vulnerable clients and he only did so because when he started there were only women present. This is Australia Take down your review MJ as I've reported it now to police and Google... YOU WERE SCREAMING AT US ALL FRIGHTENING YOUR SON FRIGHTENING YOUR SUPPOSED BABY FRIGHTENING EVERYONE. You were terrifying your own children and our lovely local people one client had her baby and was terrified this is when I interviened MJ2 days ago New $20-40 We arrived at 4:10 PM (well before their 5 PM closing time listed online and, on their door,), only to be told they were "closed" and could only do takeaway, yet others were later seen ordering and waiting inside. While waiting for our coffee, a staff member approached me and pointed out that my 6-year-old was wiping condensation from the fridge door. I immediately asked him to stop, which he did. But the staff member looked unhappy and seemed to expect more from me than just stopping my child. Shockingly, she then approached me rudely, demanding, "Is that it?" When I asked what more she expected, she threatened to cancel our order. Some patrons nearby seemed to support her, saying it had been a busy and hard day for the staff. I asked, "So what? Is that a reason to talk rudely to customers and a child?" Her attitude was hostile and completely inappropriate, especially toward a child.When I asked to speak to the actual manager, she claimed she was the manager. Her behavior escalated, including snapping her fingers at me and trying to confront me again until another staff member intervened. What should have been a simple coffee stop turned into an upsetting and humiliating ordeal for my entire family, including a 6-year-old and a 7-week-old baby. The contrast in treatment compared to other customers was blatant, unfair, and felt racist, especially as visitors to the area for the first time. This staff member seriously lacks professionalism and basic customer service skills. She clearly needs training, especially on how to treat families and children with respect Service: 1/5 Group size 5-8 people
